The Sunday before last I decided to check out the "Free" stuff and found an Ikea butcher block cart that had been posted only half an hour before. The ad said that it could be picked up in Hillcrest which is only a few miles from Sherman Heights, where I live. I responded to the email link for the ad giving my name and phone number and within half an hour I got a call from the lady who was giving it away. It turned out that she lives in Golden Hills which is a few blocks away from my house. When I saw the cart standing at the location that she said that she would leave it I couldn't believe that if was free! Once I got it home I oiled it down with vegetable cooking oil and it is a valuable addition to my kitchen which has zero counter space!
Today, I was trying to locate a battery for a female friend of mine's car. Kragan didn't have that particular style, AutoZone had one for $90.00, and before I went to CostCo to see if they had one, I decided to check CraigsList (San Diego), once again. Wow! There was a brand new Energizer bought from Pep Boys which was for a Ford LTD. The pictures with the ad verified that it was the correct size. I quickly called Joe, the seller, got his address in Chula Vista and within 20 minutes the battery was mine for $50.00! He gave me the receipt along with it showing that he had paid $92.00 for it on August 29, 2008.
I'm seriously considering shelving Google and making CraigsList (San Diego) my home page!

I think that torture is a perverse form of cruelty whether it be used on human beings or animals. Our courts are filled with laws making cruelty to animals or persons a crime! Therefore, it stands to reason that Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, et.al., are guilty of "Crimes Against Humanity" because they approved the torture of prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba!
Once Bush has left office I hope that International Criminal Court in The Hague brings charges against him and his cronies. Not only has Bush, single-handedly bankrupted our country far into the future, he has brought deep shame to our country!
When Bush took off he made made the following oath, "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." Bush violated the following amendments when he approved the torture of prisoners at Guantanamo!
- * Sixth Amendment: guarantees a speedy public trial for criminal offenses. It requires trial by a jury, guarantees the right to legal counsel for the accused, and guarantees that the accused may require witnesses to attend the trial and testify in the presence of the accused.
- * Eighth Amendment: forbids excessive bail or fines, and cruel and unusual punishment.

Today at about 10:30am I was sitting on the john doing my daily duty (which I had missed doing the day before). This was a welcome sign of relief as I was feeling a bit constipated and because of my constipation I had two bowls of raisin bran before going to bed. It usually takes a few minutes of sitting on the john doing a crossword or reading the newspaper before my bowels start to move. However, once my cheeks hit the toilet seat a huge load was expelled. When I flushed, the huge (one piece) turd rolled over once and then lodged itself in the trap, leaving half of it exposed to view. I rolled off some TP and prepared to wipe, but before I could I was seized with the urge to evacuate once more. Suddenly another huge turd (loose) was deposited atop the half that remained from my first effort. I followed this with emptying my bladder which has always indicated that my trip to the john had reached its conclusion. I was amazed when my stomach growled, followed by a significant fart, and another loosely formed turd eased out to top the other two!
Before wiping, I thought I should take a look to see if my three deposits were flushable and for the first time in my 55 years I saw vapors rising from the scene of the crime! I've been frantically searching the web ever since trying to find any info on this phenomena and have yet to find anything about it. My own postulations of the matter have lead me to three possible explanations:- It could have been vapor caused by the pungency and foul odor of the mess!
- It could have been steam, however I live in San Diego and the air and water temperature were in the mid 50s.
- It could have been "the smoking gun", whatever that signifies.
- What would Dear Abbie's advice be about if I did flush and I had an overflow would it be proper manners to get the neighbor who absconded with my trusty plunger over to clean the foul mess up?

Circuit City Gives Me a $24.00 Credit!
Yesterday evening I orderer a mini tripod from Circuit City's web site. I wouldn't have paid for it with my credit card if I was unable to pick it up from their Point Loma store. After verifying that the Point Loma store had this tripod in their inventory, I completed the transaction. Then I started my email client (Mozilla Thunderbird) and opened the confirmation email that Circuit City sent.
I printed this confirmation and then proceeded to the Point Loma store and gave it to a clerk working at the cash register. I showed him my California Drivers License (Picture ID) and my MasterCard which I used to make the purchase. The clerk processed all this information from his side and then he asked me to wait until someone brought the tripod to the check out counter.
Fortunately, I was in no hurry, and I spent about fifteen minutes looking at all the cool electronics throughout the store. I returned to the counter thinking that they would have had plenty of time to locate the tripod and was told that they didn't have one in stock. The clerk began to tell me all the options that I could choose from; i.e. get it from a different store, have it shipped to my home address, or get a refund. When he had finished, I said that he was forgetting something. The perplexed look on his face made me mention the option that he had not included beforehand, that I would be issued a $24.00 credit
The clerk became obstinate and questioned my reasoning for demanding the credit for something that he had no control of. He said that since they didn't have the tripod in their inventory they could not be held responsible to issue a credit. I responded to this by saying that I had their web site verify that the Point Loma store had the tripod before I gave them my credit card information, which I did in good faith. I also reminded the clerk of Circuit City's online guarantee, "If we don't have your order ready for you within 24 minutes of your confirmation email, a $24.00 gift card's yours."
The clerk responded by reiterating that they were not responsible to issue a credit since they did not have the item in the store. I could see that I wasn't going to get satisfaction from the clerk, so I asked him to please get the manager of the store to the counter so I could talk to him about it. Upon hearing this, the clerk turned his back to me and began to walk away. After he had taken a few steps, he made a halfway turn without actually facing me and said, "So you're going to be that way about it?"
This gesture of disrespect lit my fuse and as the clerk continued walking away from me, I said in a loud voice so that everyone in the vicinity could hear, "You're damn right I want to speak to the manager since you insist upon dicking me around!" There weren't any customers within earshot of what I said but the manger and a handful of clerks heard me and they all had looks of utter shock upon their collective faces as if to say, "Why are you using such foul language? Are you some sort of uncivilized ruffian?"
Once I was face to face with the manager I apologized for using the epithet and then I told him why I felt justified in asking for the credit. He quickly agreed and authorized another clerk to issue the credit, but he didn't offer me an apology for his employee's mistake, nor did the clerk in question, who stood in the background ever offer me an apology.
My outrage was quickly checked by the knowledge that I would receive the credit and I returned to my normally non-confrontational self. The clerk who was helping now was courteous and very competent. After he gave me the credit he arranged to have the tripod shipped to my home address free of charge. He gave me all the paper work and apologized for any inconvenience that this may have caused me.
I thanked him for his help and said "Good night" to him.

Bush and Chaney should both be impeached for all the crimes that they have committed against Americans! If the Democrats have any balls they will proceed with impeachment hearings against these two men who chose to ignore our constitution!

Just one more of many stupid and inhumane federal laws which are enforced because the victim is a minority! DEA agents violated protocol when they served indictments on the Lakota family for growing industrial hemp! Two years in a row the DEA destroyed their hemp crop just as it reached maturity, in order to deprive them of the income that they would receive had they been able to harvest! The white man is still fucking the American Indian over! Thank your corrupt representatives in Washington for passing such ignorant and repressive legislation! I hope that the Lakota have the economic wherewithal to fight these laws all the way to the Supreme Court!

Charlie Rose
Vitaly Churkin, Russia's UN ambassador stated that Russia is willing to help in an international effort to establish a stable government in Iraq!
It's a tragedy that President Bush's ears will be closed to this offer! I suppose that accepting Russia's offer to help extract his sorry ass from his horrendous mistakes would be too damaging to his ego for him to graciously accept their offer! Just more idiocy form the idiot who resides in the White House!

I want to hear about (1) national health insurance, (2) extracting our troops from Iraq, (3) reducing military spending, (4) reducing our dependency on foreign oil imports, (5) developing renewable energy resources, (6) reduce the amount of fossil fuels that are burned producing energy, (7) roll back the tax cuts that Bush gave to the rich, (8) decriminalize drug use, (9) legalize prostitution, and (10) make August 17 (my birthday) of each year "National Golf Day"!

The current regime in Iran has proven time and time again that they are not friends of the Western world and with their proclivity to support terrorist organizations with vast sums of money along with modern weaponry, if they should continue on their current path towards developing nuclear arms, once achieving their quest, would they not give these weapons to their Muslim brothers? For instance, a dirty fissile devise that could kill hundreds of thousands and contaminate cities for thousands of years! Are we willing to risk our cities to the whims of whatever mullah enjoys the will of the Iranian population at the moment?
I still think that President Bush made a grave mistake when he invaded Iraq, but perhaps it could be used to our advantage by a rapid pull out of our troops leaving the Iraqis to solve their own political and cultural differences. The chaos that this would lead to will directly draw the Iranians into the conflict and once their troops are committed the U.S. should invade Iran and force a regime change in Tehran after destroying their capabilities to develop nuclear arms. Of course you would want the UN to condemn their weapons making policies first, and if they refuse to comply, send in the troops!
The Arab nations have so much hatred and animosity towards one another that they will have their hands full killing one another that they won't have the stomach for attacking the West! However, if one of them should, they can count on the wrath of the West to rain down upon them, thus weakening them to the point where their Arab brothers will come in a finish the dirty work!
