What was this guy thinking?

University Police are still wondering why a male non-student tried to sell marijuana to uniformed police officers last week as they stood behind a police cruiser with its lights flashing.

At 10:45 p.m. on April 18, officers Doug Miller and Steve Harshaw were conducting a follow-up investigation in Parking Lot H near Olmeca Residence Hall. They were both in uniform and standing next to their patrol car when they were approached by 20-year-old James Bruce Erickson II, of the 5500 block of Michael Street in San Diego.

Erickson asked the officers if they wanted to buy some marijuana. Perplexed by the brazen question, Miller asked Erickson to repeat his question.

“Do you want some bud?” Erickson asked.

Still puzzled, the officer asked to hear the question for a third time.

“Do you guys want some chronic?” he reiterated. The officer asked to see the marijuana and Erickson quickly obliged, pulling a 20-gram bag of marijuana from his left front pocket.
